First of all: We’re fully aware that an annual events calendar is usually published in January. However, we were busy with research, development and planning then, so the following post only covers events that take part in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter of 2022.
As for focus topics, it’s been quite a challenge to decide which events to list and which to leave out. That’s because XR4DRAMA is about XR and multimodal data and (remote) disaster management and location scouting. We’re pretty sure, however, that if you’re interested in at least some (aspects) of the aforementioned topics, the following list will be quite helpful when nagivating the jungle of international conferences, meetings, and exhibitions.
In this series of blog interviews, we further introduce the people and organizations behind XR4DRAMA by asking them about their work and their particular interest in the project. Our sixth interview partner is Leo Wanner of UPF-TALN, the widely acclaimed group of natural language processing specialists at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
Wow. We’ve already completed more than 50% of XR4DRAMA, and the week before Christmas 2021 saw us pass our first official review. So it’s actually a good time to give you a quick summary of all the tech we’ve been putting together and reflecting on – and to let you what’s coming next.
In this series of blog interviews, we further introduce the people and organizations behind XR4DRAMA by asking them about their work and their particular interest in the project. Our fifth interview partner is Rita Paradiso of Smartex, an Italian manufacturer of smart, bio-sensing textiles.
So we’ve been experimenting with extended reality (XR) technology for disaster management and media planning for roughly a year now. We’ve been discussing use cases, building mock-ups, and creating prototype applications. A key question we’ve been coming back to again and again is this one:
Which kind of XR should we use for which scenario?
In this series of blog interviews, we further introduce the people and organizations behind XR4DRAMA by asking them about their work and their particular interest in the project. Our fourth interview partner is Yash Shekhawat of Nurogames, a German software house that specializes in game development and immersive media.
While the pandemic has mostly had devastating effects on the international conference circuit, there’s also one positive consequence: There are interactive virtual editions of basically all the bigger events now. This means, of course, that you can partake in meetings in exotic locations that would have been hard to get to before – like the ones we recommend in this post:
Nine months after the project kick-off, we’re thrilled to give you a first look at the XR4DRAMA application prototype, currently being built at Nurogames.
In this series of blog interviews, we further introduce the people and organizations behind XR4DRAMA by asking them about their work and their particular interest in the project. Our third interview partner is Nico Heise of DW, Germany’s international broadcaster.
The XR4DRAMA project is driven by two pilot use cases: The first one focuses on disaster management, the second one is about media production planning. The two user partners, Alto Adriatico Water Authority (AAWA, Italy) and Deutsche Welle (DW, Germany), have spent the first months of the project to specify the use cases and define user requirements.
